THE ART IN OUR BLOOD DRESS

(Based off of my original design here)

Update as of July 27, 2013: The checkout has been fixed so anyone experiencing trouble ordering the dress will be able to smoothly do so now! In addition, due to production costs and manufacturing time, the pink lace detailing is now burgundy. If you are still interested in ordering a dress, the pre-order price of $64 (reduced from $69) will end on July 31st.

Of all the opportunities that have come from starting my blog, being able to have one of my own designs produced and sold is the most amazing thing that has happened thus far and I am so grateful for it! I have been waiting for so long to show you guys the final result of my collaboration with Dahlia Wolf and now that the day has come, it feels rather surreal. Dahlia Wolf is Sugarlips' new brand where users can post fashion images that inspire them and the community can then vote on their favorites; from there, the images with the most votes end up being used as inspiration for the next Dahlia Wolf garments. When Dahlia Wolf approached me for this blogger collaboration, I actually asked if I could submit an image of my own design instead. I chose a photo of the brown lace gown I made in my junior year for the school fashion show, and thus, the "Art In Our Blood" dress was born in this beautiful, burgundy color.

Right now, you can pre-order the "Art In Our Blood" dress for $64, which is 50% off of the regular price of $128. After July 31st, the price will go back to $128. I do get a commission on each dress that is sold, so I hope that you guys will consider buying one for yourself and supporting my college fund! :) The only thing I want to point out so that none of my readers are mislead is that the original brown dress was actually two pieces (a short dress with a mesh maxi skirt over it), whereas this version is one, single piece. However, I do think that it looks a lot neater this way. Other than that, I'm very pleased with how closely this version resembles the original (especially the applique detailing!). The added ruching in the back also allows for an adjustable fit in the top area. If you guys have any specific questions about the dress at all, feel free to email me or ask me in the comments and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thank you to Sugarlips and Dahlia Wolf for helping me with my pursuits as a designer and thank you to all my readers for your undying support as well! I truly can't thank you enough for helping me get where I am today.

  38. *Bowing down to your designing skills*
Jen!! Where do I begin with this masterpiece (if I can somehow convince my fingers to spell masterpiece correctly haha)?!
Well, for starters, this dress is a masterpiece. Duh. Looking back at your original design, I'm still somewhat awestruck by the fact that you created something so lovely. The delicate sheer skirt, the feminine lace details. The fact that you hand-dyed it. And that you sewed it. MY MIND IS BLOWN RIGHT NOW. BLOWN! While I can hardly thread a needle without managing to stab myself (multiple times, I might add), you are able to envision such dreamy pieces and then carry them out. Wow, just wow. You, my friend, are way coolio. You completely deserved to have one of your designs produced and sold :)
Congratulations!! I'm sure it's like having your baby of sorts growing up and entering the real world. I can only imagine how it feels!

So when you're super famous and the coolest designer on the planet, you'll still remember all your loyal blog followers, right? Heehee :) Oh and since you can clearly design spectacularly, I'm calling dibs on you to create my future ballgowns that I shall be wearing to all of my fabulous functions as a fab lady with cool ballgowns. No joke.
Okay, fine, maybe that is a little bit of a joke. But I still call dibs on you designing for me! :)

    1. Hi Ranim,

There were technical difficulties with the checkout so it was temporarily taken off the site, but now it is fixed so everything will work smoothly! You can buy it at the new link below:

      http://www.dahliawolf.com/shop/123

In addition, due to production costs and manufacturing time, the pink lace detailing is now burgundy. Other than that, if you are still interested in purchasing a dress, the pre-order price of $64 ends July 31st! :)

  43. is there ANY WAY to buy this dress in the original pink detailing, paying a bit more perhaps??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Izabel,

The only dress that was made with the pink detailing was the original sample :( These photos were shot over a month ago in the sample dress and it was a recent decision right before actual production of the dresses were to begin that the pink detailing should be changed to burgundy. Dahlia Wolf is in charge of the technical side of this collaboration so they ultimately have the final say in these changes. I wish it was able to be offered in both versions! Sorry about this :(

  47. Love the dress! ♥ I have a question about it since I really want to order it: is the sheer part of the skirt more transparent as pictured in the online shop or more like your picture? Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Angelique! I'm so sorry for my late response! The sheer part is more transparent than it appears in these photos (it's just the lighting that makes it look less sheer here)
